Hello, Lakers Nation. It's game day.

Been far too long since we've been able to say that.

But the Lakers take on the wolves tonight to kick off preseason.

We're going to take a look at what you should be watching for in tonight's game.

We're going to talk about all of the different stuff coming out of training camp.

Plus, we're going to also talk about what's going on with JJ Redick, new head coach. What are we going to be watching for from the coaching perspective as well? Joining me on today's show, it's editor extraordinaire, Daniel Stark, and Daniel, how are you doing? I'm doing well. It's been a long off season, but we have finally, you know, reached a day where we get to watch some Lakers basketball, so I'm excited. Yeah, really exciting stuff. We will be live on the Lakers Nation YouTube channel. We'll also be live over on playback during the game. Can come hang out. I'll be myself and Ron Gutterman over there during the game doing the play-by-play, and then afterwards hang out with us. We have the post-game show going on right after the game. Daniel, this is the first game of preseason.

Before we get into anything revolving specifically to the Lakers, preseason basketball, what

should we be expecting? Well, first of all, we shouldn't be expecting to see LeBron and AD, like,

all that much, I'd say.

Like, you know, JJ said they're going to play. He wasn't exactly sure of the plan when we last talked to him. But, you know, coming off their Olympic run, you know, I would say they're going to be used sparingly, which is, you know, good and bad, I guess. because like obviously you want to keep them fresh with a long season ahead and they are coming off the Olympic run. But at the same time, with a new head coach and stuff, you're trying to install a lot of your schemes, a lot of your plays. So ideally, you would like, you know, more game reps. But it is what it is. So for me, like I'm more so looking forward to kind of seeing, you know, what some of the younger guys look like, you know, like what progress, you know, have we seen, you know, since Summer League for Dalton Connect, for, you know, Maxwell Lewis. We haven't seen Jalen Hood-Shafino in a while. Like, how's he looking? And then also some of the guys coming back from injuries, you know, Gabe Vincent, you know, immediately comes to mind. Like, can he get back to his Miami heat form that earned him the contract with the Lakers? Or is he kind of looking like a shell of himself the way he did in his minimal, you know, playing time last year? So, you know, there is a lot to look forward to. And even just

not as far as players, just like, let's see, you know, what JJ Reddick could do. Like, let's see how the new offense is looking. Let's see if guys are corner crashing the way he wants them to. Let's see how many three point attempts, you know, are going up, you know, stuff like that. So definitely a lot to watch for even if these games, you know, don't count, you know, in the standings or anything.

So you've been there. So far,

the Lakers have three days of training camp. You've been there all three days. What's the general

feeling like in the building right now? Honestly, from everything we've gotten, like they,

they're loving JJ. And like and i and i know like

a lot of it probably has to do with the fact that none of them really like darvin ham so it's like

anyone better than darbin ham that that's jj's best qualities he's not darvin ham yeah exactly

but but i i do think like his they respect his IQ and and you know, we haven't seen, you know, what plays he's been drawn up. But from what we've heard, you know, they're loving that. And they are, they are kind of loving the way he runs practice, like how efficient he is, like how much, you know, thought he puts into everything they do to be efficient with their time and stuff.

So like you said, it's only been three days. But from everything we've heard, you know,

they're really loving, you know, what JJ's bringing to the table. So, you know, I'm excited to

see it in an actual game so we could kind of get a look at what they've been seeing behind

closed doors.
