finals will not be a sweep. Game three just came to an end was a San Antonio victory. The road

team has won all three games. So now we've got a series. We'll talk a little bit about that game.

Of course, we'll talk a lot about the Lakers, the offseason. It's going to get started real soon. We know that coming up, we're going to start to see the wheels turn it for next season's Lakers to be put together. I've said it a bunch of times. Lakers are the most fascinating team of the summer and it's not close. Why? Because they've got potentially so much cap space to play with

a lot of big question marks. What's going to happen with that LeBron James guy, Austin Reeves contract, Rui Hanchamura, Luke Kinnard, on and on, all the different free agents. What does Marcus Smart do? What does DeAndre Aiton do? What do they do with their draft pick? So many different things up in the air. so I think this is going to be a very exciting and very eventful summer for the Lakers.

We've got a lot to talk about tonight. I'll be here for the next hour as we tend to do Monday nights and Wednesday nights talking Lakers basketball. Usually shoot for 9 p.m. Pacific time. I went a little bit early since the NBA finals game just came to an end.

But let's start there. Let's start with the NBA finals.

115 to 111-11 victory for the San Antonio Spurs. Just what they need it.

Just what the Spurs needed. There will be no sweep. The Spurs get the win in New York. yet all those nix fans that were fired up thinking they

were going to see their team essentially put the nail in the coffin right you go down 03 and that's

that instead the spurs they stayed alive a lot of different things that happened here in this game

to allow that first and foremost wemby was awesome i mean 32 points on 11 of 18 things that happened here in this game to allow that. First and foremost, Wembe was awesome. I mean, 32 points on 11 of 18 shooting. That's the kind of efficiency that you need out there from Victor Webbin Yama. He was great three blocks as well. But I'll tell you the big separator in this game. And a lot of people will knock the spurs for this. but the big separator, it was the free throw line.

And you look at the field goal attempts, pretty darn close, 88 for the Knicks, 84 for the Spurs.

The Spurs shot 1% higher.

The three is pretty close.

The Knicks made one more three than the Spurs did, the percentages really close there.

But the big difference, 10 more free throw attempts for the San Antonio Spurs.

And so that turns this game around and puts it into San Antonio's favor.

Now, they also did themselves some favors, didn't turn the ball over as much, 13 to 8.

They win the turnover battle, the offensive rebound battle won decisively by the New York Knicks. But ultimately it was the free throws. It was the free throws, getting to the line the way they did. And I know a lot of people will get on the Spurs. You can see the free throw rate ranked in the 87th percentile tonight for the San Antonio Spurs. I know a lot of people will say, oh, it was the referees that won it for San Antonio.

I mean,

like, did they get a few calls? Yeah, but there were also, like the Knicks were literally hanging on Wemby's arms and all, like we saw that too. It wasn't like there were a bunch of calls where I thought, oh, that wasn't really a foul. No, There were fouls.
