What's up, Laker fans? Welcome to the Laker Film Room podcast. I'm Pete, joined by Darius, and the

Lakers fell to 7 and 3 this weekend with a blowout loss to Atlanta. D, before the game, we already

knew that Trey wasn't going to play. Porzingis was going to be out. They also ruled out Jalen Johnson and Akeel Alexander Walker. It did not matter. The Lakers came out and were clearly not ready for the game. First one of the year quite like that. And we're going to talk about that just sort of as a larger idea. This is something that happens in basketball over the course of 82. It's the first one of the first 10. I'm a big believer that, yes, this happens, but how you respond to it is especially important. And so we got a big game tonight despite another opponent that's going to be missing lamello, right, in Charlotte, and not a very good team. But I think that

this is more about the Lakers than it is about anybody else. But we wanted to talk about that today, Dee. And so set up this idea for us, if you would please, about where your mind's at on this. It was the first possession of the game, Pete. In fact, even before the game started, when I saw the injury report. We were all chatting before the game, me, you and Mike. And I was commenting

that I hope the Lakers don't take their foot too far off the gas. And this is something that in all

the conversations we've had with Mike over the years, the human nature element of the game is something that he was always very good

at bringing up and recognizing very quickly in the moment.

Caught us a ton about that. I think our knowledge of the game, like he really understands that.

He's got such a beat on it because he lives it.

Yeah, he is in the room, literally. He would talk about it all of the time

within the context of when you go up by 20 or 25 and what that means. And also seeing it from

the opponents when the Lakers would come into the building and their sense of get up for a game

and how that's human nature. and also what it means from the other

team when the team without all the players is like, I'm still going to play hard. And the team that
