A new era of Lakers basketball has begun as Lakers hired the 29th coach in Lakers history, J.J. Redick. And we're going to talk about it. I'm Pete joined by Darius and Mike. And guys, this has been

something that was what, about a six week process or so, a quick weekend dolliance with Danny Hurley,

or Dan Hurley, excuse me, I remember him from his seat in hall days, but Dan Hurley aside,

JJ Redick was the widely reported favorite, and that is how it

ends up working out. We've got Darius joining us on his flu game tonight. So we'll start with you,

my man. What's your reaction to JJ Redick, not official, but being widely reported?

Yes, being widely reported. The thing that's been

seemingly widely reported for weeks now. I'm a little mixed and intrigued, excited in a couple

of different ways. This is, in some ways, to me, an inspired sort of higher. When you think about a very much a veteran team with established superstar players, giving

a not only a first time head coach, but a guy who's never coached at any level above his

son's youth league, that there's a certain amount of like reaching for

the stars in that idea and they see something in this particular guy. And so that's where I get

that sense of it being inspired. There were plenty of other safer routes. To me, though, it also

signals the market that was available to them.
