Summary

Ladell is from Kansas City, Missouri and attended Blue Springs High School. By the end of his high school career he was a standout on the football field and that earned him a scholarship to the University of Iowa. He excelled early, was a significant part of the Iowa Rushing attack for his entire career, and is still the only player ever to lead the Hawkeyes in rushing in 4 straight years. His career was uniquely split between Coach Hayden Fry and standing head coach Kirk Ferentz, the man that he now coaches under. We discussed the transition of coaches and what that was like from the player perspective, what the team realized once Coach Ferentz took over, and other details from his career at the turn of the millennium. He went on to have a very successful career in the NFL as a running back for the Washington Redskins, playing in the league from 2002 through 2010. He got into coaching shortly after he retired and spent time at a handful of high schools, before a conversation with his wife sparked a path to thinking about elevating to the college level and beyond. He got the job with the Hawks as RB Coach in 2021.If you love the show and want to show support, tell your friends!
