| 0:00.0 | Hello and welcome back to the Psych Legal Pop Podcast. This is a podcast where we talk about popular |
| 0:06.0 | culture through the lens of an attorney and a therapist. I'm the therapist, Tess Brigham, |
| 0:11.0 | and normally Brooke would be here to say she's the attorney, but this is the second part of our |
| 0:18.1 | two-part episode about Scott and Lacey Peterson. |
| 0:22.6 | So please enjoy. |
| 0:24.5 | Thank you so much for your support. |
| 0:27.6 | Anyway, they completely ruled out that this burglary or any of this had anything to do with Lacey's disappearance. |
| 0:35.4 | And so in trial, the prosecution probably did what's called a motion and limine, which before |
| 0:42.6 | trial, if there's evidence that you want to keep out or things that you want to make sure |
| 0:48.0 | the jury doesn't hear, you file a motion and you say why. |

| 1:19.4 | not introduce anything, anything about the burglary. So they couldn't present an alternate theory. And the, then here's something |
| 1:31.2 | that's really a shame. For whatever reason, Garagos decided not to put on those witnesses. |
| 1:40.5 | Yeah, which really surprises me. Yeah. And the other lawyer that was working with him, |
| 1:46.1 | attorney, Laura, I can remember her last name, but yeah, she talked about how like these witnesses |
| 1:52.5 | had been so just kind of abused by the police, you know, like discounted by the police. And they kind of got to a point where, you know, they just didn't really want to be involved. |
| 2:06.5 | And, you know, they just thought it, I don't know, he just made a decision that he didn't think they would be good witnesses. |
| 2:14.3 | Because the police had made them bad witnesses. |
| 2:19.3 | Yeah, the police had confused. The other thing, too, is when you, again, coming back to my media thing, if the media wasn't involved |
| 2:24.2 | in any of this, then, because I think that there is, right, the detectives could argue, oh, |
