This week, the government's position on Israel's actions in Gaza drastically changed.

The level of suffering, innocent children being bombed again, is utterly intolerable.

And I want to put on record today that we're horrified by the escalation from Israel.

The Foreign Secretary announced that the UK would suspend trade talks with Israel

and condemned its actions with

language he hasn't used before.

On this side of the House, we are crystal clear. What is happening is morally wrong.

Unjustifiable and it needs to stop.

But why, when the human catastrophe in Gaza has been clear for such a long time?

And we're only seeing this moral outrage from the Labour government now.

And what more should they be doing?

But first, this week, the UN warned that 14,000 babies were at risk of dying in Gaza because of Israel's

ongoing refusal to allow aid to reach Palestinians. Meanwhile, Israel continues to attack Gaza

and says it plans to escalate its military incursions. In response to what the Israeli government's

doing and ministers there advocating complete ethnic

cleansing, the UK government has suspended trade talks and like other Western governments

is talking about Gaza using a new vocabulary of moral outrage and condemnation. But what this

might mean in terms of foreign policy is still unclear. I'm now joined by Melanie Ward, the Labour MP for Cowden Beath and
