Summary
It was triggered after former SNP MP Margaret Ferrier was removed from her seat after breaking COVID guidelines.
The win could have implications for the next general election. If the swing was repeated across Scotland it would see a rise in the number of Labour MPs from just 2 to over 40 and so a big boost to Sir Keir Starmer’s bid to enter 10 Downing Street.
On the Sky News Daily, Niall Paterson is joined by our Scotland correspondent Connor Gillies and Sky’s election analyst Michael Thrasher to dig into the result and look at how it may influence the political landscape in the run up to a general election next year.
