Now, will the victims of the grooming gangs ever get justice?

Let's get the views now of a good friend of mine, former Met Police Detective Peter Blexley.

This inquiry is a non-starter. It's now been pushed back into next year on the watch of an administration that didn't

want it in the first place.

Oh, very much so.

They pushed back and they pushed back and they obfuscated and they ducked the issue

and they did all they possibly could to avoid setting up this large scale inquiry which is stumbling forwards

and sometimes backwards. But with regards to your question about will these victims obtain justice,

this inquiry is not something that is going to kick down front doors, slap the handcuffs on and drag

people off to police stations. Now, we currently have the National Crime Agency, their

operation Stovewood, for example, which was looking into cases in Rotherham and other

investigations, and they are doing some very good work in terms of arresting offenders

and getting them convicted at court.

This public inquiry is going to look at the systems and the failings and how this appalling

situation could ever have arisen in the first place.

So when we talk about justice, they're kind of different things, but we do need to be aware that there are investigations going alongside this stumbling non-starter of an inquiry,

unfortunately.

Most definitely, it's a real, real concern.
