Karen Tani is a scholar of U.S. legal history with a deep background in social welfare law,

administrative agencies, the role of rights in the modern state, and her current research focuses

on the history of disability law in the late 20th century. Professor Tani is faculty at both the

Law School and the Department of History at University of Pennsylvania,

and she also co-curiated the Law and Political Economy Blog Symposium on the work of Marta

Russell with Artie and I this past year and wrote a fantastic piece for the LPE Cost

Benefit Symposium that happened in 2021 that regular listeners of the show might recognize.
