So, Elric, we're talking about Los Angeles movies today, but this is actually kind of a piece of a bigger puzzle.

0:22.1

Yeah, we were inspired to do this as a kind of follow-on to our September New Beverly Calendar,

0:29.1

which went all in on LA films and a lot of major classics and films you instantly think of when you think of Los Angeles are on that program.

0:37.1

Obviously not all of them. There's no way to ever cover probably the most film city in the history of movies. But we decided on this episode to do LA movies, like five because, you know, so I can't speak for you, but I picked a couple, not necessarily deep cuts, but just like a little bit odd baller choice

0:54.9

and then a few that I really wanted to see.

0:57.4

And then we also did another companion leading up to this, which is coming out after this

1:02.9

probably, but leading up to it where we did a hangout and we did another few LA films each

1:08.2

where some of them were like maybe too much took place outside of LA so suddenly

1:12.2

they were disqualified.

1:13.2

But there's some really interesting films on that episode two, I thought, a couple that might

1:18.2

have almost broken into this list.

1:19.8

So it really was kind of just the inspiration to go all in for a month of LA, basically.

1:25.5

Yeah, and it's a blast.

1:26.4

We've talked about how I think we both like LA films as people who weren't

1:30.9

originally from Los Angeles and have now lived here for, you know, a while.

1:36.6

And it's become our home.

1:38.6

And so it's fun to, you know, after this much time and now, you know,

1:48.7

considering it the place where we live to sort of spot locations.

2:22.7

And like one of the movies I'll talk about, interestingly, has a shot where I noticed that if the building had been built, you could see my work behind some of the characters, except it's, you know, 30 plus years ago, so the building isn't even there. It's not even a thought yet. But I was just like, wow, that looks like the angle. And that's so, and it's super cool because some of the landmarks have been around for a long time, and so you can really of base your geography around them and that's i think a lot of fun too yeah and the time travel i find it's like time travel because you depending when the movies from l.A. just keeps

2:27.1

looking so different like certain icons stay the same but the the shops and whether it's neon

2:32.4

or 80s or you know 60s where things are a little more classy in the early period and then they are kind of crumbling, just like things are different now.
