It's the morning after the transfer deadline has passed for another summer

and it's brought to end a truly remarkable winter.

Yes, and while usually Dan and I would dive into a brilliant specific piece on the Athletic,

we're actually going to go a bit bigger today because we're going to be talking about a couple of different pieces

because it's been a mad summer for the transfer window. We've had Messi, Ronaldo, Lukaku and more on the move. And we're going to be talking about the one that didn't happen, which is Killiam Mbapé to Real Madrid. And that's a really interesting one. And thankfully, we've got the athletic Spanish football correspondent joining us don't we

Dan yeah looking forward to chatting to derma a very la lega centric show for us today but before we

get his thoughts on everything that's going on in the mad place that is la leiga let's talk a little bit

about transferred deadline day ourselves flow or as it was for me as a villa fan of a completely

crystal palace finally have got a goal score of flow well i think that's a bit harsh on bentecke i

I don't know if it's a bit of panic, but obviously it hasn't quite been the start to Palace's season that I think a lot of fans would have been hoping for because they had a pretty

positive transfer window up to this point anyway before managing to get Edward. So I think there was maybe a little bit of worry that it was going to be a difficult

few months for Fiera.

And obviously when you get a younger manager in, who's already a big name from his past

footballing career, I think it is tricky.

I mean, there's a lot of pressure, and we've seen that with Arsenal and Artetta. So I think it's really positive signing because they're definitely lacking goals and you've seen that already so far this season. They've got a solid midfield but they really need to get some goals. So I'm excited to see him play. I'm hopeful for Palace as well because I think you want to see those managers do well. You don't want to
