Summary

Kyle Busch joins Jay to talk about how he grew up in a racing family, and how young he was when he actually started racing at the age of 16. He also jokes that NASCAR had to change the racing age limit to 18 because of him racing in the Truck Series at such a young age, and even though Joey Lagano eclipsed his record as the youngest driver to win a Cup Series race he feels like the record is still his. Plus as a father, Kyle talks about teaching his son the basics of racing at age 7 and why he's not a fan of the racing simulators on his off days. Kyle also talks about learning new cars, how the rules have changed on how many cars he uses in a season, and how his race team works from week to week. Kyle shares his thoughts with Jay on the new NASCAR cars and how he thinks there are positives and big negatives about trying to equalize the field.

0:35.0

big, but it's also true. I mean, you're you go on Wikipedia and then you're on NASCAR, um,

0:41.4

you know, you're a compliment, accomplishments, and you know, all the things you've done in NASCAR

0:46.0

and racing is, is incredible. Well, I appreciate that. Everything's true on the internet, by the way.

Nice, Patrick. Where are you at now? I'm hanging out in my shop here in

1:00.1

humble abode. Gotcha. Gotcha. How long you been there? Um, well, I was born in Vegas

1:17.1

I went and spent a summer. So I had I had a lot of shell shock. So I went from growing up in

1:21.7

Las Vegas to then moving to Hicksville, Ohio, which really exists not far from where you probably

1:28.0

grew up. Yeah. And then, um, moved to North Carolina right after that. So I guess I've been here

1:33.5

about 20 years. Did you, uh, I know your brother. Did you guys kind of grow up racing? How do I

1:39.0

mean, how did you get into racing? Yeah. So my dad was always into cars. His dad was a car,

1:45.3

guys. So grandpa, my dad always enjoyed cars kind of grew up going to the racetracks. They went

1:51.0

down to the Daytona 500 in the 70s and things like that. So, um, then once my dad got married and

1:59.3

moved to Vegas, he went to the local track, decided he wanted to race a little bit and just kind of

2:04.2

did it at the local level kind of amateurly. And, um, did fairly well. I mean, he won a ton of race

2:10.7

in one track championships, just never took himself back east into North Carolina where the kind of

2:16.4

the NASCAR Mecca is. And, uh, you know, just did it, you know, locally and got my brother into it,

2:23.4

got myself into it. And we all kind of, I guess we're pretty good at it. So we strive to, uh,
