Well, we've got a little bit of a disagreement between a husband and a wife here, and I guess I could see why.

He sent us this email, and he says, my ex wants me to give her my kidney, but my wife is a bit hesitant.

Oh, this is messy.

He says in the email, he said, I was married for three years before getting an amicable divorce. What had happened was my

wife realized that her career actually meant more to her than our marriage did. And she knew she was

never going to want to be a mother and she knew how badly I wanted children. So she was honest with me and I

appreciated that and that's why it was amicable. Now, I was sad, but I respected her honesty and even her career drive, and she has great potential, and I get it. She's doing very, very well. So we went our separate ways. Three years later, I remarried, and now I've got two kids of my own, age two and four. I haven't spoken to my ex for at least five years, but she reached out to me, and she said that she was going through end-stage renal disease and desperately needed a kidney transplant.

No one in her family was a match, and she asked if I would consider getting tested.

I agreed, expecting to not be a match, but surprisingly, guess what, I was.

When I told my current wife about the situation, she was not very receptive.

She was upset that I had done the testing without telling her. She also wonders why I feel obligated

to a woman I was once married to who chose her career over me. She reminded me that I am the one

with children and this decision could one day keep me from living a full life with

them. My wife is sympathetic to my ex but does not think this is my obligation. Is this worth the

fight and sacrifice or should I put my current family first and tell my ex-wife that I cannot

give her my kidney? Yeah, you made quite a few mistakes in this little journey.

So you definitely should have told your wife before you did the testing.

Yep.

And made sure she was cool with it and talked about it then.

The fact that you did it behind her back, now you've made your wife feel insecure in your

marriage because you were just going to try to do this behind her back and maybe hope to

not be a match and go about your business.
