This is something that went down over Thanksgiving.

Just getting to the email now, though, it says,

politely ask people to remove their shoes when they come over we've never had an

issue with it upsetting anyone except for my in-laws they ignore our wishes and come barreling in with dirty shoes every time.

We have asked them multiple times and they ignore us and continue on. So we just bought this new shag white rug for our living room and they again didn't take their shoes off at Thanksgiving and now the rug is filthy from where they were sitting.

And now they're coming back for Christmas.

So am I a jerk if I strictly enforce my no shoes policy next time?

You need to buy in-law rugs.
