Hi, guys. Welcome to the Katie Halper Show. So as people probably know, on Wednesday night,

we did a great live stream for Steven Donziger, the human rights lawyer, who was sentenced to six

months in federal prison for basically suing Chevron, which had poisoned the water of the

Ecuadorian Amazon, which increased rates of birth defects and cancer for the indigenous people

living there. So we did the stream. And Thursday, Steven Donziger was allowed to serve the rest of his

sentence under home arrest. Now, this is amazing news. He gets to be with his family instead of

in prison. He does have to remain under house arrest, though, and he does need to once again wear

an ankle monitor. I say once again, because he served over two years under house arrest before.

And this struggle and this fight isn't over because he shouldn't be sentenced to anything. He

should have his law licensed back because he was disbarred during this criminal persecution and

also Chevron still has remained to pay a cent to the people of Ecuador. So there's a lot more to do,

but this is a small step in the justice direction. So we're very happy about that.

And just to clarify, this was a decision made by the prisons. So Donziger has not been cleared. He

has not been freed. He's simply serving the rest of his six-month sentence under house arrest.

And Chevron has yet to pay a penny. This was recorded before we learned a good news about
