The Kroger Albertson's deal will be a hot topic in court

for the next three weeks.

SpaceX is giving Boeing a hand,

Kroger will start battling in court with the Federal Trade Commission over its plan to block

the 24.6 billion dollar purchase of Albertsons.

The FTC is set to start its trial today against the supermarket operators before a federal

district court judge in Portland, Oregon.

The trial in front of Judge Adrian Nelson is scheduled to end with closing arguments on September

13th.

According to an April 12th court filing, the judge expects to make a decision 10 days after the trial ends.

The FTC sued to block the combination in February, saying the supermarket deal would lead

to higher prices for consumers.

Eight states in Washington, D.C.

teamed up with the regulator to halt the deal.

Colorado and Washington also separately filed lawsuits

to try to put an end to the merger.

Kroger has been trying to appease the FTC by offering to divest hundreds of stores

to make the deal more palatable.
