0:00.0	found out that I was also really addicted to fear. And fear, you know, people call people like me an
0:06.8	adrenaline addict, but beneath the adrenaline you'll find fear, there's first fear then the
0:10.8	adrenaline, and I was as addicted to fear as a heroin addict is addicted to heroin.
0:16.0	I was obsessed with doing scary experiences as evidenced by my trip to Asia right before my ski career began. But I was also repressing fear to the extreme.
0:26.7	And there are a lot of teachers out there that teach what you want to do about fear is you
0:32.1	want to conquer it, you want to overcome it fear is you want to conquer it you want to overcome it
0:33.8	rationalize it away positive affirmations control it ignore it that kind of thing
0:38.9	and I was doing that since a very young age and I was exceptional at it, so much so that I didn't feel fear
0:45.0	because there's a payoff for that, but there's a cost.
0:47.8	And you can get away with that kind of thing for about 10 years and then just things start to go south and your life comes unravel for me
0:55.3	the PTSD the burnout the injuries all of that and so I started just dissecting my
1:01.6	relationship with fear I had both a love and a hate relationship with
1:05.6	fear. It's a bit of a paradox, but when you make your life all about one thing,
1:10.1	like anybody that's married can say, well I can love and hate my wife at the same time.
1:14.4	So I love fear so much, but I also repressed it to the extreme in order to ski the way I
