Corey Moss, assistant professor of history at Hillsdale College, about the history of religious

liberty. John Pafford, author of the new book, Chester A. Arthur, the accidental president.

Associate Professor of History at Hillsdale College. Dr. Moss, thanks for joining us.

I'm glad to be here. Thanks for having me.

Speaking today about the history of religious liberty, which is still a very important topic today, clearly.

It's still a contentious issue in the courts and elsewhere. Presently, what do we mean by the phrase religious liberty?

That's a very important question, and I'd offer that one of the reasons it remains such a contentious topic is because we're not entirely sure what exactly it means.

What kind of liberty it entails, what the scope of that liberty might be, or even, frankly,

what exactly is encompassed by the term religion.

Relatively recently, you might remember that a few years back there was some brief controversy

when in this context, Hillary Clinton, she might have been on the campaign trail,

referred to her desire to protect

freedom of worship.

I just wrote down that point to follow up so good.
