Summary

On today’s show, I was joined by Felice Ramallo. She is a Rochester, NY based Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RD/RDN) and Lead Dietitian at Allara Health. She earned her BS in Nutrition at Syracuse University, and went on to the University at Buffalo for her MS in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetic Internship with a concentration in Culinary Medicine. She also completed her graduate thesis on nutrition for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS).

Felice appreciates the implications that PCOS has on one’s dietary patterns, sleep, exercise/movement, and the relationship with food and one’s body. She is committed to a holistic approach that considers all of these factors to produce targeted and personalized results. Her nutrition philosophy is grounded in mindful or Intuitive Eating, and reducing the burden of weight stigma through a pledge to Health at Every Size (HAES). In short, she aims to help patients eat what makes them happy with a goal of teaching not only what to eat, but how to eat in ways that promote health for a lifetime.

Felice adores her family and friends, especially her Basset Hound, Estelle, who is learning to speak using buttons. In her free time, you can find her trying out new recipes, hiking around Upstate NY, enjoying Lake Ontario, or going to see live music.

pronounce it. It is not Romalo, but that's how it looks. I'm, she's going to kill me when she

0:13.7

listened to this. I forgot to ask her how you pronounce. She told me once and then I forgot, but

0:18.8

really, really good conversation back and

forth. Talked about PCOS in the beginning. Um, she's a registered dietitian and, um, she is the

0:31.4

lead dietitian at Alara Health. Now, what Alara Health does is they specifically work with people,

0:36.7

women with PCOS.

0:38.3

So guiding them through that.

0:40.4

But she is also in her master's degree, really got into not only the health at every size, but the intuitive eating.

0:47.8

Now you guys are listening going, Brad has this beef with intuitive eating.

0:52.1

She actually, we had a really good can of conversation back and forth.

0:55.4

And she really actually validated a lot of my beef against it because it's not the most effective

1:03.9

and or appropriate way to go about intuitive eating.

1:06.3

It takes a lot more guidelines.

1:08.8

Like all of my hypothesis about intuitive eating, Felice confirmed.

1:13.1

And she actually really summed up what intuitive eating is.

1:19.8

Do you do it for fat loss?

1:23.7

And there's, it takes a lot of parameters and guidelines and especially somebody getting going and learning your body, learning your stressors, learning your mindset.

1:34.0

There's a lot that goes with it.

1:36.2

Really good conversation.

1:37.2
