But we will not do it anymore. We are going to start with our warm up.

0:38.4

We start every episode with our warm up, which is your questions about the five factors of health, which are those few fundamental behaviors that most positively affect your performance, fatality and longevity.

0:49.0

Those five factors, if you are new here or how we eat, how we move, how we think, how we connect and how we recover. Your challenge, Mr. Ben. Mr. Ben is to answer these questions with intumidance.

1:00.6

Good. Rock and roll.

1:01.9

First one is from our move factor. When working out how much does humidity affect performance? I live in Paraguay and we have very high humidity at the point where in the warm up you sweat like you did two workouts in a row.

1:12.6

Should we just expect a decreased performance in high humidity? The answer is yes. It does so twofold. Yes and yes. Yes, it affects the workout in a big, massive way just as heatwood or altitude maybe or outside.

1:28.9

Sure. Yes, absolutely. Then secondarily, should you expect a decrease in performance? Yes, you should. The question I wasn't asked in that is what if anything should we do to mitigate the decrease in performance?

1:44.6

It is a matter of hydration and electrolytes. Sodium has gotten a really bad rap unnecessarily. It is a central nutrient and mineral I should say.

1:59.0

You need to supplement it when you are eating a clean diet and exercising in extreme heat or humidity. The levels of that the baseline levels are a thousand milligrams of sodium for every hour of activity.

2:27.2

That's what we do. It's way better than table salt and it is a thousand milligrams per serving. Your Gatorade, your noon tablets, your salt tablets are not getting you enough.

2:36.9

Look at the sodium content on those and most likely a really potent one will have somewhere around 200 milligrams.

2:43.0

That's enough. Your Gatorade does not have electrolytes. It has carbs and sugar. It works. It works but it works for a different reason.

2:50.1

Make sure you are getting enough fluids and sodium and you will be good to go. Is there any advantage for athletes in a higher humidity if they were to go to a place and compete where the humidity is less?

3:01.2

Is there some advantage of training in one place and competing in another if that is what they were doing?

3:08.0

There is a thing called heat acclimation. I actually don't know the answer to that in terms of humidity aspect but for heat there is but it doesn't really work necessarily in terms of like
