On this episode we have Valerie Jarrett, the former advisor to President Obama and current

board member of Lift. And we have John Zimmer, the CEO of Lift. I'm excited to talk to them

because I learned so much in this episode. 15 million eligible voters did not turn out

in the 2016 election due to transportation issues. So we decided to take action.

We're giving free rides to those in underserved areas that don't have access and can

afford transportation. And we're giving discounted rides to ever and across the country because

voting is an American ideal and something that we stand for.

We have the news with me, Brittany Clayton Sam, as usual. Now before we get started,

there was a great quote that I saw online. It was unattributed. And it said gut feelings are guardian

angels. You know, that brought that because we often have a feeling about the work that we're

involved in situations where in like an orientation to a certain issue or like how we should respond.

And sometimes we can we can like intellectualize and sort of overthink so much that we lose

a fidelity to our gut. And like our gut is actually guardian angel. I think about like,

we're brought me to the street in 2014. I think about when we publicly supported Hillary and

people told us we were right, but we felt like we had to do something in that moment that they

would this is like what was right, even if it wasn't popular. I think about a host of issues

were like, we've trusted our gut. I think about all the work we did around policing and research.

People told us we were wasting our time. This wasn't right. I even think about this podcast is

that people were like, why would you do that? It's not important. You know, I even think about our

format. People like, why are you focused on the news? You even don't know. You need to be talking

about Trump. In every step of the way, I try to follow my gut because my gut has always been
