When you're trying to motivate a team to accomplish a difficult task, it's rarely helpful

to have someone hurling insults at you.

As the leader, criticism about your performance can easily rattle your confidence and even

derail your project.

Today, on Insight for Living, Chuckswindall continues our study of Nehemiah.

It's a series called Hand Me Another Brick.

As this crew and labor to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem, Nehemiah became the target

of intense criticism.

His stable response is a model for us all.

Chucks titled his message, Knocked Down, but Not Knocked Down.

J. Oswald Sanders has written a book entitled Spiritual Leadership.

It's small, but it's an excellent work.

There are two reasons that I would recommend it to anyone who is in the ranks of a spiritual

leader or plans to be someday.

First of all, I recommend it because it's thoroughly biblical and that's unusual to find

a book written on leadership from a biblical perspective.

It's filled with Scripture.

The second thing I appreciate about it is that it is practical.

It's thoroughly realistic.

For example, the 13th chapter is entitled The Cost of Leadership.

In the chapter, he lists seven areas for any person, man or woman, will have to pay a

price for being a leader.
