Hello again, everybody, and welcome to the Mike Francesa podcast, part of the BetRivers Network.

And we come to you after game one of the Eastern Conference final as the metropolitan area of New York and Nick fans everywhere literally pick themselves up off the floor after one of the

absolutely most devastating losses they will ever encounter.

I was sitting courtside on May 7, 1995, when Reggie Miller, who was without question,

one of the greatest clutch shooters in the history of the sport, he was uncanny.

He wasn't the best player, but he was an incomparable late game shooter.

And I was there and watched that eight points in nine seconds to beat the Knicks in that game.

I saw it in person. I still didn't believe it as I walked out of the building that game. I saw it in person.

I still didn't believe it as I walked out of the building that day.

And what I watched tonight might have been a fourth quarter performance of that

ilk, of that on that level, you saw one of the great playoff,

fourth quarter performances in the history of the NBA tonight.

And you got it from a guy who is a good three-point shooter, but is a 12-point regular season

scorer and a 14-point playoff scorer. This is not Curry. This is not Jordan. This is not Jerry

West. This is not Sam Jones. This is not Reggie Miller. This is a player you do not expect to get 20 points in the

fourth quarter. And do you think, do you think at some point in a game that if we said

lacked some defensive intensity at times and lacked some defensive smarts and a lot of defensive

principles throughout the ballgame from both teams, but especially down the stretch by

the Knicks, you've got to get the ball at some point out of his hands when he gets, when anybody gets that unconscious as he did in the fourth quarter of that game.

Remember, the Knicks, this was a bizarre game on a lot of levels.
