Man, you want to talk about zapping the life out of a baseball season in a hurry.

The Kansas City Royals are there.

A season opening sweep by the Minnesota Twins sends the Royals reeling on a long home stand here to start the

years the Toronto Blue Jays will be coming in, a team that lost two out of three this weekend in

St. Louis, and the Royals just aren't doing much right. Sure, there have been some fine

pitching performances, but the Royal starters do not go deep enough. Brad Keller was okay on Sunday, but he didn't get through the fifth inning.

He pitched four and two-thirds innings. He gave up five hits, two earn runs. It's not the end of

the world. Looks like his new pitch is fairly successful. We watched a team that can pitch. The

Minnesota Twins the last three days. They're starting pitchers against the Royals in this series.

The starting pitchers gave up one run,

combined, one single run. Joe Ryan, the latest, to baffle the Royals. He goes six innings on this

Sunday. He scattered a few hits and pitched out of a couple of jams, but it's what good pitchers do.

Joe Ryan just kept the Royals reeling. He gave up a solo home run to Edward Oliveros, and that was it. Joey Gallo had two home runs in this game for the twins. A three-run bomb of Dylan Coleman in the seventh was the difference in the ball game, and the Royals really never had a chance from there. They scrapped out some runs. They scored four, got a home run out of Matt Duffy, got the one out of Oliverus,

it was a two run home by Duffy and scratched out another run to get on the board and maybe take

some pressure off. It's just an ugly, ugly look, especially at the top of the lineup, with the

exception of the great Salvador Perez. Salvador Perez is the one shining spot on this team so far, but the other four of the top five hitters in the lineup.

Get this.
