Early one morning, a little kitten called Nutmeg was in the car with her mum and heading towards a very special place.

She was going to a summer camp for the very first time and she was going to stay there for a whole week.

Some of her friends from school were going to and she couldn't wait to see them.

Best of all, her mum was going to stay at the camp too as a helper.

From the back seat of the car, Nutmeg asked,

Mum, are we nearly there yet?

Almost, her mum replied, laughter in her voice.

Nutmeg smiled, I wonder if my friends have arrived yet.

They haven't been to summer camp before either and we don't know what's going to happen.

Her mum said that all adds to the adventure.

Nutmeg's mum drove the car around a curve in the road and at last the summer camp came into view.

Lines of cozy wooden cabins surrounded a couple of large buildings.

Leafy trees stood still at the side of the buildings and cast their dappled shade over the wooden roofs.

There was a huge lake at the far side of the camp and canoes sailed smoothly across its glittering blue surface.

Behind the lake was a lush green forest.

A colourful sign welcomed visitors to kitten summer camp.

Nutmeg's mum drove into the camp and parked next to a row of other vehicles.
