Summary

Paul and Erika dip their toes into the early aughts as they talk about 2001’s Kissing Jessica Stein! The film has come in for a fair amount of backlash over the years, but That Aged Well is here to ask the really important questions, like “why are there so many characters whose names start with ‘J?’” And also, “what was up with wallet chains?” And finally, “can anyone point us to Idina Menzel in this movie?”

I had jury duty.

Someone put you on a jury?

0:07.7

Someone put me on a fucking jury.

0:09.0

But the craziest thing about it is I was on jury duty the week before the Trump indictment.

0:14.1

Oh.

0:14.6

There were crazies everywhere.

0:16.4

There was media everywhere.

0:17.6

There were like photographers.

And it felt like I was like on the red

0:22.4

carpet at the Oscars. I was about to say, did you start dressing for the step and repeat?

0:27.2

And then like it kind of petered out a little bit, the like the hoopla petered out a little bit

0:31.7

because the actual indictment was supposed to happen my first week of jury duty and then it

0:36.4

didn't happen for like two weeks later. Right. And by then jury duty was over. But for a hot minute, I was like, man, I'm in the middle of American history here. This is, and can I tell you, American history is terrible. It's a crime of the century, crime of the century. You had people outside with like vaguely racist and anti-Semitic signs.

1:27.5

Vaguely. I would have expected to be pretty overt. Some truly very Semitic, anti-Semitic signs I saw out in front of the courthouse. And I was like, seriously? Who is this even for? I didn't need this right now. Who are you trying to convince that your boy is innocent? Yeah. next time when they ask you, ask your question on the jury, just take out a tit. Answer through sign language and it's one boob. Just walk in with one tit out see what they say. And don't acknowledge it. You're like, I'm sorry, what are you telling me? Yeah, you act completely normally. And then look down like you didn't know.

1:29.2

Oh my God.

1:30.8

Why didn't anyone tell me?

1:32.1

And then go to the bathroom and come back with the other one out.

1:35.8

But come back like you've been weeping in the bathroom.

1:38.3

Like you have been humiliated.

1:40.8

And then the other one's just down.

1:42.1

Yeah.
