Today we're going to look back to April of 2018.

Kirk Cousins, the Minnesota Vikings quarterback, joined us on Sports Spectrum's podcast.

Kirk, at that point, had played his entire career with Washington and then signed one of the richest contracts in the NFL in March of 2018.

And he was gracious enough to come on with us right after that to talk about the decision to go to Minnesota at that time

where he's been a staple now the last few years, but also about his faith in Jesus. And the

clip you're about to hear is him talking about becoming a follower of Christ. What does that look

like to be a follower of Jesus? And how did that come about for Kirk

Cousins? This is the Sports Spectrum Minute right here on the Sports Spectrum podcast.

Well, I had parents who raised me very intentionally and were engaged in my life all the way

through in every aspect of my life and did a phenomenal job raising both me,

my old brother, my younger sister. But I was obviously presented with this full of the young

age, 70 years old, explained to me what it meant that Jesus died on the cross for my sins,

that he rose from the dead, what it means to have sin, the need to have reconciliation with

the Lord. You know, at seven or eight years old, you only understand it so much.

So I remember praying that prayer in the church pew before a service with my dad and my brother.

But at the same time, I also remember at 15, 16 years old, take my faith walk to another level.

I remember a Bible teacher at my high school.

I went to a Christian high school who

explained that, you know, people who walk with Jesus, it needs to be a fully devoted commitment

to walking with Jesus, not just church attendance on Sunday and then claiming to be a Christian
