Well, we have been in a series entitled Kings and Kingdom, studying the life of

the great King David. And if you recall last week, King David was anointed by

Samuel as a teenager and then defeated the great giant Goliath. So as we pick up

our story, young David has just moved from shepherd boy to savior of the

entire nation. So as we pick up his life here in chapter 18, I'm gonna let you

know, things are going pretty good for our hero. This is the moment that we're

gonna move through some sections real quickly here. If we were shooting this is a

movie. This would be the upbeat montage. So pick your favorite 80s music in the

background and listen to what's happening to young King David. In chapter 18

versus one through four, we find out in a powerful scene, David picks up a best

friend. And truly the best kind of friend you could have, Jonathan. And it says

about Jonathan that their souls were knit together and Jonathan loved David as

much as he loved himself. Jonathan was the son of the King and he gave his

robe and his weapons to David. These are symbols of authority and power that

here he is giving them to David. I see authority and power in your life. You

get one verse later, David gets a serious promotion from leading sheep to

leading men as a high ranking officer in the military. And then we find out as

it shows us a number of his battles that he met so much success on the battlefield

that David becomes famous, not just in his nation, but among the nations. So
