Summary

I met Anthony on the back of a donkey in the Egyptian desert, and after a while, it twigged that we’d been tennis partners at prep school! His journey out of business in the City of London back to his native South Africa is riveting. There he pioneered a significant charity called Starfish which impacted many thousands of AIDS orphans, and that subsequently led him to working for Allan Gray (South Africa’s equivalent of Warren Buffett), with the aim of identifying, mentoring and releasing a new generation of ethical entrepreneurs to positively impact society. I'm on the back of a donkey sort of waddling along in the Egyptian desert. And I'm in a group with a few other tourists. And there's this guy there and he's a great big meathead. And he's,

his, I think donkey is struggling under his weight. No, that's maybe over, over, hegging it up. But there's something familiar about his eyes and after a while chatting, I said to him, did you do all your schooling in South Africa? And he said, yes, a bar from three years at a prep school in Buckinghamshire. And he turns out he's my tennis partner when we were 12 years old. And that is Anthony Farr. So it was a rekind. I mean, we weren't really mates at school, were we, Anthony? But because you were the year above me. Can I brag and say that I took your crown as the tennis champion of coldicots? Exactly. We were too competitive to be friends, Simon.
