Summary

When faced with a decision whether to worship the true God or a counterfeit God, Daniel’s friends stood firm in worship of the true God. Even when it looked like the counterfeit God would win, the real God showed up in the middle of their trial and protected them. God can do the same for those today who put their trust and faith in Him despite the most desperate of circumstances.

0:18.1	We are spending 12 weeks, one chapter each week
0:21.1	in the great story of Daniel.
0:23.1	Let me catch you up since we're in chapter 3.
0:25.3	Let me summarize chapter 1 and 2.
0:27.6	Chapter 1, the year is 605 BC.
0:30.3	So about 2,600 years ago in the Middle East, God's people are living in the nation of Israel,
0:36.8	a promised land that he had designated for them.
0:39.8	He also gave them leaders and commands to follow. They were disobedient, defiant, disregarding of God
0:46.0	for 490 years. So God is super patient, but eventually his patience was within, and justice he promised,
0:54.1	he allowed them to experience judgment and justice
0:58.2	with an invasion from a foreign army.
1:01.2	It was from the nation of Babylon, is modern day Iraq led by a godless
1:05.8	king named Nabokineser so he plunders the temple takes everything that belongs to
1:10.3	the lord and enslaves a number of God's people.
1:14.4	They are forced to now make the 700 mile walk
1:18.3	from Israel to Babylon.
