Summary

When faced with a decision whether to worship the true God or a counterfeit God, Daniel’s friends stood firm in worship of the true God. Even when it looked like the counterfeit God would win, the real God showed up in the middle of their trial and protected them. God can do the same for those today who put their trust and faith in Him despite the most desperate of circumstances.

0:12.0	All right, if you got a Bible or you got a device, find Daniel chapter three. We
0:18.2	are spending 12 weeks, one chapter each week in the great story of Daniel. Let me
0:23.3	catch you up since we're chapter three. Let me summarize chapter one and two.
0:27.1	Chapter one, the year is 605 BC. So about 2600 years ago in the Middle East,
0:33.8	God's people are living in the nation of Israel, a promised land that he had
0:38.0	designated for them. He also gave them leaders and commands to follow. They were
0:43.0	disobedient, defiant, disregarding of God for 490 years. So God is
0:48.4	super patient, but eventually his patients were thin and just as he promised,
0:53.9	he allowed them to experience judgment and justice with an invasion from a
0:59.7	foreign army. It was from the nation of Babylon, which is modern day Iraq, led by
1:04.8	a godless king named Nebuchadnezzar. So he plunders the temple, takes everything
1:09.6	that belongs to the Lord and enslaves a number of God's people. They are forced to
1:15.2	now make the 700 mile walk from Israel to Babylon, included in that number is a
1:22.2	guy named Daniel whom the book is named after and three of his friends who are
1:27.4	with him. They arrive in Babylon, they are chosen for the honor of serving in the
1:33.4	King's Court because they have high IQ, high EQ, they're good-looking, and they came
1:37.9	from royal families. But if you're going to be in the King's Herum, first we need
1:42.4	to emasculate you, which is what they did to these teenage boys. So just
