Shall we turn now on our Bibles to Acts chapter 12?

Now about that time, Herod the king stretched forth his hands to vex certain of the church.

There are just a lot of Herods in the Bible, and it is a little difficult to keep them all

straight.

In fact, I don't expect you to keep them all straight.

This particular Herod was Herod Agrippa the first. He was the grandson of Herod the Great,

who was the Herod at the time of the birth of Jesus. Herod the Great had ten wives.

One of his wives, Miriam, had a son, Aristobulus, that was murdered by Herod the Great, as was Mariam.
