My name's Matt Mullins.

We're two friends and two ministers who love telling the stories of the Bible.

We can't wait to share this one with you.

And we are in the beginning of a series on Kings.

And we're back to King David. And like you and i king david in our stories

today he's going to slip in the middle age he's going to start taking that long walk into that

open field of his middle age that's right that's right yeah you're right and what we're going to

cover today matt is kind of some of his prime years, you know, where he was getting some things done. And, you know, he was now established in the throne. And so, you know, Matt, last week we learned about David's rise to being king. And we learned that in many ways, he was an unlikely candidate. You know, his predecessor, King Saul, had the outward appearance of a king, right? Like he was an unlikely candidate you know his predecessor king saul had the outward appearance of a

king right like he was tall dark and handsome he came from money uh man he had that charisma

and he also ruled with fear which we know that's not healthy but that's that's kind of common sometimes with kings.

And so to a lot of people, he kind of had that outward appearance.

That's cheap currency, too.

Fear is a very cheap way to lead.

And it'll work for a bit.

Yep.

Not long term.

It's not sustainable.

Not sustainable.

Like the food I just ate, not sustainable.
