And it's fair to say, as ever, but this week perhaps more than usual, my guest fits very much into that category.

Kim Ledbita, the MP for Batley and Spend. Kim, thanks for joining us.

Hello, I was just thinking, what happened to the interesting people? Where are they? Are they joining us?

Well, that's funny, you should say that. No. And of course, the purpose of this interview is for me to find out more about you.

And yet, inevitably, you carry the legacy of your sister, Joe Cox, with you everywhere you go.

I mean, I know you never get irritated.

That would be entirely the wrong word.

But I think I've seen one interview where you have expressed a desire to find room for a bit more Kim.

Yeah, I think to some degree, although I will always be incredibly proud to be Joe Cox's sister.

And I'll never ever stop being Joe Cox's sister and know what I ever want to. But I think

particularly doing the job that I'm doing now, it's really important that I carve out my own

identity and I do the job my way and don't even try and do it how Joe would have done it because

that would be wrong on so many levels. But it's no problem for me whatsoever when people talk

about Joe. I'm more than happy to do that.

I do understand that.

It struck me, I've got this pet theory,

that the only people we should be allowed into politics

are people that don't really want to go into politics.

And it struck me, you're probably the closest person I'm ever going to meet

who fits into that country.
