Alright, thank you for joining me tonight for another edition of mysterious radio. I'm your host K-Town and tonight my special guest, you've probably seen him on the Homicide Hunter on the ID channel.

Jo Kinda is my special guest and he's here to discuss his book is called Killer Triggers.

Lieutenant Joe Kinda is a 23 year veteran of the Colorado Springs Police Department. He spent 21 years chasing killers as a homicide detective and commander of the Major Crimes Unit.

His team solved 356 of his 387 homicide cases, getting a 92% solve rate, which was one of the highest in the country. After retiring from law enforcement, he starred in Homicide Hunter, Lieutenant Joe Kinda, an American True Crime documentary series that ran for nine seasons on the investigation discovery network and was aired in 69 countries and territories worldwide.

At his peak, Homicide Hunter averaged 1.9 million viewers in the US and he has a new crime series, American Detective available to stream now on Discovery Plus.

He says that the most common triggers for Homicide are fear rage, revenge money, lust and more rarely sheer madness.

This isn't an exact science, of course any given murder can have multiple triggers. Sex and revenge seem to be common partners in crime, rage money and revenge make for a dangerous trifecta of triggers as well.

Joe says that this book offers my memories of homicide cases that I investigated or oversaw. In each case, I examine the triggers that led to death. I chose this theme for the book because even though the Y of the Murder Case may not be critical in an investigation, it can sometimes lead us to the killer.

And even if we solve a case without knowing the trigger, the Y still intrigues us, disrupting our dreams and lingering in our minds perhaps because each of us fears the demons that lie within our own psyche, the triggers waiting to be pulled.

And I just love Joe's tagline. I will find you. And if I don't know nothing else about Joe, when he says he will find you, he means it.

When I was nine years old, I lived in a coal mining town east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And my parents decided to take me to the Pittsburgh Zoo.

This was a huge deal in the kid world. We're going to go see wild animals for God's sake. So off we went. And outside the primate house of that zoo, there was a sign that said around this corner is the most dangerous animal on earth.
