I apologise if you were working yesterday, or if yesterday was a normal day for you, because I am

going to spend the next couple of weeks struggling to remember what day it is, not because

of my growing years, not because of my encroaching age, but because if you take the Monday, because of

a bank holiday, especially next Monday, which is an unscheduled one, as it were, or an untraditional

one, I come to work thinking that it's Tuesday, which means that I won't realize it's Friday

when it's Friday, and I'll probably be expecting to do mystery hour at some point on Saturday

afternoon. So I'm just mentioning this in case I embarrassed myself at some point in the coming days. And of course, the reason why we have an

extra bank holiday next Monday is because of the coronation of King Charles III. And I really want

to talk about it. I want to talk about it because it is happening and because it is significant.

And I appreciate that many people listening to this program may think it shouldn't be as significant as it apparently is.

Michael Butterfield, for example, has already been in touch to say, please don't talk about the coronation.

I'm disgusted with it, and I'm

75 years old. It's medieval and ridiculous. It is also undemocratic. Michael, that's why I want

to talk about it, because I'm really interested in what you think about it. So I don't see

that you can have it both ways. You can't be possessed of pungent and to my mind intriguing

insights and opinions about something

while simultaneously insisting that we don't talk about it. I am I am drawn to things upon which there is no

consensus and I think it's fair to say that there is no consensus to this. I'm also, as you know, drawn to changing minds.

In fact, as I get the hang of this job after 304 years of apprenticeship, as I get the hang of this job, as I get the hang of this job,

if I had to pick the thing I find most interesting about it, I think I'd probably pick changing minds. I find my own

mind changes fascinating and I find your mind changes even more fascinating. I'm intrigued,
