What's up everyone? I just got back from a walk grab some kambucha sitting down and I'm recording this episode for you all. I hope you're doing awesome today.

Today, we're going to talk about insecticidal soaps.

So this is a very common pesticide that I recommend.

I say pesticide, but really it's more a natural or organic prevention method.

And it's just effective, it's sort of a broad spectrum insecticide in the sense that

it works on many different insects in many different situations and so it's something

that's important to know how to make. The first question we'll talk about though is

how does it actually work? Why is it such a good idea? Now, here's what matters. It's not

just soap plus water plus spray it on a plant. What matters in the soap part of it comes from the fatty acids that are contained within the soap.

Effectively, those will kill soft-bodied insects, things like aphids, things like thrips, white flies, spider mites, some of those really

annoying garden pests. It will dissolve or even remove entirely the cell membranes around a soft-bodied insect,

and then their natural waxy coating will go away.

And that means that they don't have any shield

from the elements, and they will lose so much water effectively that they will die.

So when you're looking for a soap, you're looking for a potassium based soap.
