Welcome to Bible Stories. We are your hosts Matt. Hello. And Todd, we are two ministers who love the stories of the Bible, and we want to share them with you. And today's story is G. Willickers. Is it ever, Todd? Today's story is one of the more unique stories in the Bible. This is honestly, probably something that you did not grow up in Sunday school learning

about or talking about. This comes out of Second Kings chapter two, and this is the story

of Elisha, teenage punks, and two killer bears. So let's jump into it, Todd.

Seen one, we've titled Prophets and Problems. Our story today centers on the prophet

Elisha. But to get Elisha, you have to understand Elisha's friend Elijah Todd they were like Lucy and Ethel you know thickest thieves adventures together yeah except in this scenario Lucy has the ability to call down fire from the sky and ethel can bring dead people back to life but other than than that, exactly like Lucy Nethel.

It's kind of like when I Love Lucy went into color, you know? Yeah. And then it just got really

creepy and crazy. Disorienting. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. And we all realize, oh, Lucy's a redhead. Oh,

you know? Well, Elijah was the mentor. So in this relationship, there's two of them. They have very similar names. Elijah is older. He's the mentor. He's the forerunner. And he ministered to the nation of Israel during a time of just extreme wickedness. And in this period of disobedience and idol worship, Elijah felt like he was totally alone. He felt like he was fighting God's

battle by himself, had no one around him. And at one point, he was in such bad straits

that the Queen of Israel, a crazy, awful woman named Jezebel, straight up told Elijah,

I'm going to kill you. I'm going to have you slaughtered.

So your boy gets this news. And like most of us, we would have been. He was terrified.

And he ran away. He retreated. He isolated himself. And he was completely emotionally empty.

And he had worked himself into a very dark place. He found himself in such

great despair that he asked God to take his life. He said, God, this is so awful. I'm completely

alone. Just remove me from this earth. But the Lord had plans for Elijah. And he didn't grant his request.

In fact, he encouraged him.

He had an angel go to Elijah and feed him.

Could you imagine that, Todd?
