The subject of my investigation is the story of a dad, his three small children, and a dangerous

hike up a steep trail that ended with criminal charges. Here's the story.

On October 11th, Micah Smith loaded up his three young children ages 2, 4 and 8 and set off into the mountains above Big Cottonwood Canyon on what he called a hike.

As a brutal storm rolled in and the temperature dropped, the trail turned unforgiving.

Smith did not check the weather and rescuers later said even trained professionals struggled to reach their location.

When found, two children were in critical condition, one nearly lifeless.

Prosecutors now call this hike a nightmare and have arrested Smith and charged him criminally for taking

the children on this dangerous adventure.

This story makes zero sense.
