Summary

Hey Listeners! Happy Earth Day Week! We are hoping to get out an Earth Episode this week, but in the meantime, we wanted to direct you to the Kids Listen Activity Podcast, where we are rebroadcasting our episode on extinct animals. You can find the Kids Listen Activity Podcast here: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/kids-listen-activity-podcast/id1502915722

After the episode, head to kidslisten.org/activity-podcast to find a whole bunch of activities we put together associated with this podcast episode (and over 20 others). We have ideas like building a maze out of straws, painting rocks, measuring your yawn gape and more.

Enjoy!

Hi listeners. I don't know if you've had a chance yet to check out the Kids Listen

0:03.4

Activity podcast. Kids Listen is an awesome group of podcasters for kids. It includes some of our

0:08.7

favorites like Past in the Curious, What If World, buttons and figs, a whole bunch of others.

What we're doing is during this stay-at-home period of time that a lot of us are in,

0:18.6

is we're creating podcasts or rebroadcasting podcasts that we've already done and including a bunch of time that a lot of us are in is we're creating podcasts or rebroadcasting podcasts that we've

0:22.4

already done and including a bunch of activities that go with them so that kids listening at home

0:27.5

can listen to the podcast and then have some hands-on activities to go with it. We had one come out a

0:32.7

couple weeks ago. We rebroadcast our interview with Dr. Justin Schmidt about the pain scale index. We have some

0:39.5

materials for that on the Kids Listen website. And then coming out today, we're also rebroadcasting our

0:45.8

Earth Day episode from last year. In that episode, we talked about two animals that have already gone

0:50.7

extinct, the Tasmanian tiger and also the dodo bird. And we talked about

0:55.5

an animal that is close to extinction, the white lemurid possum. And then finally, we talk about an

1:00.5

animal that scientists used to think is extinct, but it actually isn't. That's the Fernandina giant

1:05.7

tortoise. We put together a whole bunch of activities to go with the podcast, including making a maze out of your

1:12.0

old drinking straw, so you don't just have to throw them away if you don't have reusable ones yet.

1:16.7

And coming up with a little tiny podcast episode about another extinct animal, we also have a really

1:23.6

cool idea about painting rocks and measuring your yawn gait like the Tasmanian tiger.

1:28.2

You can find this activity, our activity for the last one that we did, and about 20 other

1:33.0

activities associated with different podcasts from Kids Listen members at KidsListen.org

1:38.3

slash activity dash podcast. It's such a great resource. We hope you're enjoying doing these,

1:43.2

and we will be back very soon with another episode.
