Lou. Today, we're talking about viruses. Even though our relationship with COVID-19 looks

different now than a did a year ago, we're still a little unsure about how worried we should be.

And it seems like there are always new things to be stressed about,

like this big spike in cases of respiratory sensitial virus, or RSV.

We chatted last time about COVID-19 mostly and how it affected decisions last spring.

And the world is very different now, but we got a lot of questions about a COVID booster for kids.

Now that children are vaccinated against COVID-19, which is so wonderful. My son got vaccinated

in July, and he's fully vaccinated. But at only two years old, he's not eligible for the booster.

That said, we just heard from the CDC that kids as young as five are eligible. So I wanted to ask you

a few specific questions. First up, will the under-fives need to get a booster at some point?

And then for kids five and older, should parents rush out and get that shot now?

In terms of the first question about boosters for under-fives, it is possible that at some point in

time, boosters may be recommended for children under-fives. We should be getting some data about

the durability of the immune response in those children under five who received their primary series.

And based on that, it is possible that there will be a recommendation in the coming months about

the Omicron-adapted boosters for children under five, but it's not there yet.
