Music So it's been over a week since the 2024 presidential election.

And I'm sure everybody is glad it's over, at least to some extent.

I know not everyone's happy with the result. But I think everyone's glad that it's over, no more ads,

no more text messages, no more phone calls, at least until the next election. As my listeners know,

I talk about history a lot more than I talk about current politics, but it just seems impossible to not want to

talk about this election, to not want to cover it. So in this episode, I'm going to talk about some

thoughts I've had about the election. And I'm also going to talk about just some updates in general.

The first thing, as far as those updates go, is that I am so grateful

and overwhelmed by the support I had for my Kickstarter project. As you all might remember,

I wrote the manuscript for a book about George Washington. And I started a Kickstarter to raise money to basically pay an editor to look at the manuscript and get it as close to publication ready as it can be.

And so I decided to raise $8,000, which would cover most of the

fee for an editor and also for other things like being able to attend a book conference so that I can talk to publishers, potential publishers,

potential agents. So $8,000. And I had done a Kickstarter before. You all might remember. It was,

I think, back in 2020. And this was a lot more in terms of how much I wanted to raise, $8,000.
