Eurovision. For a lot of people, it's kind of a bit of camp fun, I guess, and some would go,

oh, no, keep the politics out of it. Well, we're going to explain why you can't do that and why

Israel's participation in this contest while it is committing genocide, let alone, of course,

the crime of apartheid, which it has been committing for generations now, means that Israel's

participation has to end. There's a campaign which is

gathering speed this year. This is so important. It's about Israel's impunity and it's about how

we take concrete action to end that impunity during one of the great crimes of our age.

With that I mind, I'm really delighted to be joined by the brilliant Samir.

Eskanda, who is a Palestinian artist, organiser, human rights activist who's based over in the UK.

He's had such a long history of activism and campaigning in this area.

He's been covered by multiple media outlets all over the world and played a key role in the sorts of campaigns

which are necessary if this horror is going to end. So it's great to speak to you. How you did?

Okay. Thank you for inviting me on. First thing, so when people go, oh, your vision is just about

music, politics, keep that out.

I mean, that's the default.

That's what people come out with.

What's the answer to that when we're talking about a state committing genocide?

Well, I think that the Eurovision organizes the European Broadcasting Union or the EBU for short.

I think they've presided now over some of the worst, most

controversial editions of the song contest. Since Israel hosted Eurovision in 2019, the EBU, the

Eurovision organizers have been consistently defending, protecting, shielding, apartheid Israel,

even now as it commits genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza.
