with our Asia Pacific team and let me welcome you to what is shaping up as a very interesting

program indeed. In just over 10 minutes from now, we'll be crossing to Europe to ponder what

happens when privacy regulators in different EU member states don't see

eye to eye on how to manage key enforcement decisions. And if you were wondering whether this has

anything to do with the Irish privacy enforcers management of those global tech companies

that have made Dublin their European piedater? Well, the short answer is yes,

it does, as Sam Clark will tell us very, very soon. First up, though, some old-school journalism

from Emlex. Our reporters across North America have teamed up to work out why it is that officials

within the Federal Trade Commission,

which is one of the two government agencies working on antitrust matters in the US, are so unhappy.

We know they're unhappy because surveys have told us so,

but why has the disquiet spiked under the leadership of Lena Khan?

Is it just institutional resistance to change or does it go

deeper? Mike Swift is Mlex's chief global digital risk correspondent and he has overseen this report

which first appeared on FTC Watch which is Mlex's sister publication. And he joins us now from San Francisco. So, Mike, it's a long,

in-depth piece of reporting that we're talking about. So maybe walk me through it one step at a time.

What did you find out and how did you go about doing that? Yep. So this was kind of an old-fashioned

shoe leather type of journalistic investigation.

We basically were prompted when, at the end of April, the FTC released the findings of a

survey of the staff that showed really dramatic declines in the level of trust the staff had in the senior leadership.
