It's time for Mac Geekab and listener Chris brings us our quick tip of the week with,

In a darkened room, when I go to adjust screen brightness using the brightness keys,

the default notches for brightness adjustment seem to be bigger notches than previous MacBooks I've owned.

One press of the brightness up key is too bright for me, and one press of the brightness

down key is too dim for me.

This is always very frustrating until I remembered that there's a trick to use smaller adjustments.

You do this by holding down the shift and option keys while pressing the brightness

up or down keys.

This also works for adjusting the sound volume in smaller increments.

And I'll give you one bonus tip when you're doing the sound.

If you use the shift key, it will also silence the little sounds when you're tapping.
