Dr. Berg talks about the key nutrients that make your muscles grow and prevent atrophy (the loss of muscle). You need potassium, trace minerals for the enzymes, not to mention fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, and K2) and vitamin B complex and C. The most common deficiencies are potassium and trace minerals.
However, if you have insulin resistance, the protein will not enter the cell as well because insulin controls the absorption of amino acids.
But mostly, muscle loss is not a lack of dietary protein. High levels of cortisol from stress can also create a catabolic effect on the muscles and prevent the growth of muscles.
