The easiest way to get full of snap payments to everybody who is eligible is for the Democrats

that come in here and vote to reopen the government on a clean, nonpartisan CR.

It's a game that's being played in real people being hurt, and the administration gets

all sorts of accolades and appreciation from us for bending over backwards trying to make sure

people are not feeling the pain and that the harm is mitigated as much as possible.

That was Speaker Mike Johnson, again calling on Democrats to pass his party's resolution

to reopen the government. It comes as today ties the longest shutdown in U.S. history.

The question is what are Senate leaders saying about potentially ending this funding fight?

Today is also, of course, election day with gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia, as well as the mayoral contest in New York City, plus a big ballot measure out west in California.

We're going to track it all for you, but the question is where do things stand just before polls open?

Plus, we're going to dig into new reporting on a possible U.S. mission against drug cartels,

sending U.S. troops inside Mexico.

The question is, can the administration do that without congressional approval?

I'm Ali Vitale on this Tuesday, November 4th, and we'll start with the news because it's election day, meaning Americans across the country are heading to the polls this morning to vote in a slate

of key races that could provide an early peak into how the public views both the presidency

and both political parties heading into 2026. Among the high-stakes showdowns, the battle for

mayor of New York, the governor's races in New Jersey and Virginia,

as well as a redistricting ballot measure in California. In New York City, frontrunner Zohun Mumdani holds a healthy lead in the polls, centering his campaign around affordability.

But he faces a fight from former governor Andrew Cuomo, who continues to sharply criticize

his opponent's age, inexperience, and progressive policies.
