From Independent Music Station, K-E-X-P, you're listening to In Our Headphones,

0:10.9

a podcast about the songs that we just cannot stop listening to.

0:14.9

This is Evie Stokes, and this week I'm talking with my friend Gioti B. Fly.

0:19.5

Hi, Giotie.

0:20.7

Hi, Evie. So you are one of the co-hosts of a show here on K-E-XP called

0:27.1

WOPP. Do you want to tell us about that show? We play on Wop world music, you know, modern world music.

0:33.8

And even though it has the word pop in it we play everything you know and one of the

0:38.9

things I like to say about the show is that we are one of the most limitless shows on the station

0:45.0

you know we're genreless borderless because so many people are moving throughout the world in ways

0:50.2

they haven't in human history at any other point in human history. And because of that,

0:54.7

1:00.4

inspirations. And world music is a funny term, right, in 2025, because music, all music is world music, right?

1:15.9

So what you're basically doing is, like you said, no borders to the music that you play from all over the globe.

1:22.5

Yeah, yeah, and it's a charged, it's a charged term world music.

1:26.0

And so because of that, we just want to not create or further advance, like us versus them, dynamic, which, you know, world music historically has created a sense of othering with other cultures.

1:39.4

Yeah, we are all part of the world.

1:41.0

And regardless of what you call it, it's just nice to be able to

1:47.6

feature the music from the whole planet in a way that feels really just open and curious.

1:56.5

And normal.
