So, Julie, you've been hosting Astroplane for the last couple of years. And every week you dig into psychedelic sounds from different countries, different genres,

different eras in your show is amazing.

How do you come up with the music that you play and the song that you chose today?

You know, having those different places, different times is really important to me. I try to mix across all of those things. I kind of, I kind of obsessively keep track of like, how many songs from the 90s have I played versus the 80s versus the 60s and try to keep like a balance going? I like to think about like starting from a place of like what's new,

who do I want to support right now, and then what references can I give back to like, okay,

here's a new track by, you know, King is or someone like that. Here's references they might be

pulling from some 60s stuff or some like Turkish stuff or

things that you can hear in their sound. So that's a lot of the way I program is kind of like,

here's a new thing and like here's some stuff that if you liked that, like across space and time,

these things might also interest you. So today, we're going to listen to a song that

you chose from an artist named Velvet Meadow. Tell me about it. Tell me about Edna's branding the name's pretty sweet. A lot more than that making shit trap beats.

Tell me about Velvet Meadow.

So Velvet Meadow, mostly one guy, his name is Chris Hieronymous, and he's from St. Augustine, Florida.

But he fills it out with a whole band.

I've seen a lot of live videos of them.

They are really cool.

The funny thing about Velvet Meadow is I only discovered them fairly recently.

And this was pretty soon after the Velvet Sundown controversy.
